The Designer
I got my start in crochet from my grandmother when I was 8 years old and just fell in love with it. I come from a long line of crafters in the Southwestern Hills of Virginia, where many in my family grew up doing needlework, woodwork, and many other artsy things. Over the last 43 years, I have allowed my personal love for mathematics, art, and crochet to come together and as a result, it has made it possible to offer my lovely creations to the world in the form of original crochet patterns and unique, often one-of-a kind handcrafted items. My Pug Pillow pattern has traveled all around the world and it pleases me to no end to see people love it so. I've even made a few custom afghans in the past that were used for signs inside of businesses, which I thought was a pretty clever use for them!
I do tend to be almost OCD when it comes to getting a pattern or an item "just right" and am no stranger to "frogging", let me tell you. Before you think I'm making a new curse word, frogging is the crochet term for ripping out work and doing it AAALLL over again. You know, actually, it does feel like a curse word after all! Anyway.....
The Dream
I began creating patterns for home decor and eventually gravitated towards other areas like jewelry, clothing accessories and more. I love making pattern sets for specific rooms in the house. Crochet can be such a beautiful addition to ones home and decor. My Pug collection was birthed from my own cute pug, Meezu (now deceased) who modeled the 3-D pug applique/motif you seen in may of those patterns.
With such a wide variety of fun things to make, I thought it would be great to offer my patterns on my own website.
The Realization
I have designed patterns for about 20 years and have sold many of them online - formerly eBay, and now Etsy, Craftsy, and Ravelry, and of course, here at Needle Me That.
I spent 30 years being a mom and housewife and worked outside the home for most of those years, so I have been a busy lady! But as a new "empty nester", I found time and opportunity to pursue my dream of creating my own little crochet world....er, I mean "shop".
So I hope you enjoy browsing my pages and maybe find a little something for yourself, a friend, or family member.
And thanks so much for popping in!
